MEDIA RELEASE: Last year, the sport of Adventure Racing established its own international body to bring all Adventure Racing countries together and help develop the sport all over the world. 2024 is set to be a great year for the sport, with the new association starting to progress projects and connections across the Adventure Racing community, a fantastic adventure racing film coming to our big screens in March telling the fabulous story of Arthur the Adventure Racing dog, and a fantastic calendar of races planned around the world.
“The time has come, in our hyper-connected world, to officially bring the international adventure racing community together under its own association,” says Chairperson Cormac MacDonnell from Ireland. “We have assembled an excellent group of experienced and passionate adventure racers from around the world to establish the new association and to work on a number of important projects in the areas of safety, sustainability and regulations for the sport”.
The group recently got its website (www.internationaladventureracing.org) and social media channels (@internationaladventureracing) off the ground and look forward to keeping everyone up-to-date through these channels.
2024 will also see the feature film ‘Arthur the King’ on cinema screens around the world. “This movie puts Adventure Racing into the public spotlight, and we can expect to see many people looking for more information about our sport and how to get into it,” says IARA Administrator Lisa de Speville from South Africa. The movie has a release date of 15 March 2024 and all are encouraged to go along to enjoy it with family and adventure racing friends.
